Certain File Types not played Options

Hi Roger,

Certain Video files (ex: Files of .avi extensions etc) are not played in gallery pro applications.

Instead a link is displayed, clicking on which windows media player is popped up and the file is played in windows media player.

I had configured the MediaObjectTypes to Allow any file type, regardless of whether it is listed in mimetypes.aspx page.

Please suggest me a workaround if any as early as possible as we have to take a call on implementing Gallery Pro in my application tomorrow.

I sincerely appreciate all the help extended by you in resolving the issues.

You can force the browser to play the video by modifying the HTML template for that file type in galleryserverpro.config.

However, the reason that .avi files work like that is because it is not common for a user to have a plug-in that is capable of playing it.

So, while you can tell Gallery Server to *try* to play the video in the browser, unless a compatible plug-in exists, it won't work.

If you are in control of your end users and you know a plug-in exists, that you will have no problem.
