Q: Who is behind Gallery Server Pro?
A: My name is Roger Martin. I am the creator and lead developer of Gallery Server
Pro. My primary source of income is donations by people like you who find Gallery
Server Pro useful. I also run a software consulting company Tech Info Systems that comes
in handy when donations don't quite pay the bills.
Q: If Gallery Server Pro is open source, why does it need a product key?
A: The primary purpose is to bring users back to the Gallery Server Pro website
after an initial trial period to provide an opportunity to give a donation. A donation
is not required, though.
Q: How much does it cost to get a product key?
A: Nothing. The Product Key Wizard gives you a valid product key even if you choose
not to donate.
Q: When do I enter the product key?
A: You may enter the product key at any time after installation.
Q: Where do I enter the product key?
A: First, get the product key from the
Product Key Wizard. Then log on to your installation of Gallery Server Pro
and click Actions - Site admin. Enter the product key on the page that appears.
Q: Do I have to provide any personal information?
A: No. You can remain totally anonymous if you want. However, if you provide a donation,
than PayPal may share some information with me. This is required if you donate at
a level where I send you a thank you gift. I can't send you a gift if I don't have
your address.
Q: What do you do with my personal information?
A: My Privacy Policy is this: I will never share your data with anyone. Ever. I
may, every once in a while, contact you to let you know about a new release of Gallery
Server Pro or other related news. Any time I contact you, I will provide a means
for you to remove yourself from future contact. I hate spam as much as you do, and
I promise not to abuse your trust.
Q: Can I edit the source code so that it doesn't require a product key?
A: Of course. Gallery Server Pro is open source, so you can do anything you want
that complies with the GNU General Public License. Having
said that, it doesn't really make sense to waste time removing traces of the product
key. Remember that it is free - no donation required - and easily retrieved through
the wizard.
Q: Arrgghh! I am getting an error! What do I do now?
A: Please let me know,
and I'll help you through it. The Product Key Wizard integrates with PayPal, and
while I did my best to make it robust, it may not be perfect. I am committed to
fixing any issues, but I need you to let me know if there is a problem. If you are
in critical need of a product key, you can find my phone number on the Tech Info Systems web site.
